This is a really interesting site. I particularly like the section on Curriculum for Excellence and the possibilities for links with ECO school development.
The comment about inequalities struch a chord also - despite the pockets of rural poverty, the health and environmental extremes are mainly urban. How can we address this ? We’ve tried targeting through New Community Schools and SIPS . . . but the problems remain. Seems to me a deprived community needs a local focus and a local vision . . . like an expanded Clach FC in Merkinch . . . but with genuinely local movers/shakers on its steering group (of all ages) and an inclusive vision for the club and community.
Great site, Louise. It’s really easy to navigate, and the blog entries are thoughtful, helpful and fun.
On Dave’s point, I agree that urban inequalities are important, but I suspect that rural inequalities might just be a bit more difficult to capture, rather than not being there - both need work!
Great site Louise really like it and admire your design and layout too. You will need to show me how you did this especially how you are embedding the graphics.
Think there are real possibilities of using such a site to develop shared working. discussions and CPD for staff involved in trialling HWB outcomes later in the session. Would be worth thinking about setting up something to link all the schools/centres who will be involved in trialling and not just those in Highland. As you will hear soon there are big plans to interlink all EAs who have volunteered to trail HWB - Perth & Kinross, Borders, North Lanarkshire etc. More on this to come soon.
In the meantime well done and keep up the great work.
We should fix a meeting soon and definitely before Easter - you, Dave and I ?
Hi Lou
Love the site. You’ve obviously put a lot of work, thought and effort into it. It’s topical, current and interesting to read. I also found it easy to use and you know how IT challenged I am! As discussed I’ve left your details and information on the work you’re doing with Maria at SAF in Iceland to pass onto the Minister for Education so who knows what may come of that. Keep up the good work - proud of you. Wendy
Thanks for your post Louise, I totally agree - young people need to be presented with a balanced view of the internet. This needs to happen across the curriculum, let us know how things develop I’m keen to follow you as we develop our work in Shetland!
Hi Louise.
Great stuff…..The site is up an working very well.
Just had a thought about the Highland Physical Activity strategy under development and the consultation process around the strategy.
Perhaps some of the subscribers might be interested in commenting on physical activity in schools , communities , workplaces and homes and adding any interesting thoughts on where gaps and opportunities might be in the above areas.
Also keen to meet up with Dave , Eddie and yourself about the HWB outcomes.

Wow, you’ve excelled yourself, I think it’s a great site and will be of great use to me in my work in Shetland. Thanks, will be in touch.
Well done Lou, great site, easy to use and looks in harmony with the subject.
