Wiki wiki, chop chop now it’s all working!

I’m just back from a great but tiring day looking at Building the Curriculum 3. A key part was looking at curriculum design and the consultation on the proposed next generation of national qualifications in Scotland. Some great quotes from the day for me..‘rather than going up a ladder, it’s more like a building a climbing frame’, a much better analogy in my view!

Of course you will all know my interest is to ensure I can integrate Health and Wellbeing within this emerging landscape. I’m also keen to include all this information into our Health and Welbeing trialling process. The trialling wiki is our one-stop-shop of information, engagement and vehicle for collaborative learning.

Having had a peep at the wiki usage stats today, www.hwbtrialling.wikispaces.com I’m staggered to see how well it is growing! Some 170 views per day. I’ve documented the process here and have a couple of updates for you since my last blog about it ..The site is now fully accessible to all, so my little embarrassing problem that occured a couple of weeks ago is now cleared up!

However, it’s a bit like when you went to the funfair as a child, remember how there was a game where stood in front of you a big box with holes in, up pops a blob with a smiley face you have to bash down with a giant hammer only for another one to pop up somewhere else, well managing wikis is a bit like that!

Another wiki mangement tip from my experience, I’ve been wondering why a lot of invites to folk to join the wiki were going astray, ‘I haven’t received an invite honest’. Well, I’ve been reminded today that the invites turn up in the recipients inbox from ‘wikispaces’ rather than me, therefore to the person who might have not used a wiki before it looks like some form of spam and either ends up automatically in the ’spam’ folder or folk delete it as some form of unsolicited mail. (well trained you see in Internet Safety)

A suggestion from my good colleague Neil Winton is that a friendly follow up personal email invite can resolve this. So all in all things are progressing well, the wiki is open to anyone to view, not just Highland, any comments, suggestions or advice are welcomed, let me know what you think…

P.S If anyone can find a picture of said retro fairground game email it to me and I’ll post it! Can’t find one anywhere! *Update, thanks to Mr W for the pic!!*

I may take you up on that offer… mind you, I’ll have to get my seminar written before then! ;)
