Something for everyone..

header_sunset.jpg

This resource landed in my inbox, as any other does, but really it should have had a flashing light attached..

This resource was developed by HandsOnScotland, it’s a user friendly website for any professional working with young people. The whole premise behind it is to ensure that professionals working with young people with behaviour that can be troublesome can do so in a way that doesn’t impact negatively on their self esteem.

I have had problems with distributing this resource to colleagues in Highland, web-sense filters seem to disapprove, but that is a man-made problem with a man-made solution so if anyone has problems I suggest you get it cleared with your IT Team. There are videos embedded in it from Mental Health professionals that require streaming too, something else that presents problems in authority’s networks as they take measures to protect their bandwidth.

The thing that gets me is that often resources such as this end up going to specialist services, but we all know that young people are so transient in ‘tiers of need’ and we have to deal with situations day to day in our classrooms and school communities..so this is a resource that should really go to everyone with any connection with children or young people. Spread the word….

Louise. Thanks for blogging about this resource. I have since emailed HeadsUpScotland to ask them to join our CPDFind database (http://www.ltscotland.org.uk/cpdscotland/cpdfind/index.asp).

Hopefully that adds a bit of ‘flashing lights’ as almost all of the 32 authorities have a direct link to CPDFind on their CPD home pages.

    Con
